Wisdom Teeth Removal

Gentle removal of impacted or crowding wisdom teeth, with sedation options and a calm, unhurried visit.

Wisdom teeth are the last to arrive — and they often don’t have room. When they come in at an angle, get stuck below the gum (impacted), or crowd the teeth around them, taking them out early heads off pain, infection, and bigger problems later.

At Smile360 Chicago, Dr. Mustafa Salam removes wisdom teeth gently, with sedation options and a calm, unhurried visit — right here on Chicago’s North Side.

In short

  • Not everyone needs them out — a quick X-ray tells us for sure
  • Sedation options keep you relaxed and comfortable
  • Most removals are quick, with a few easy days of recovery
  • Upfront pricing and financing, with insurance filed for you

Do your wisdom teeth need to come out?

Plenty of people keep their wisdom teeth for life. But removal is often the right call when they’re impacted, only partly through the gum, crowding your other teeth, or causing repeated pain, swelling, or infection. A quick exam and a 3D X-ray show exactly what’s going on, so the decision is based on your mouth — not a blanket rule.

Note

Partly-erupted wisdom teeth are hard to clean and trap bacteria, which is why they’re prone to repeated gum infections. Removing them usually ends that cycle for good.

Comfortable, sedation-friendly surgery

An extraction sounds scarier than it feels. The area is fully numbed with local anesthetic, and if you’d like to be more relaxed, we offer sedation options — a good idea for impacted teeth or if dental work makes you anxious. Dr. Salam works precisely and gently, and most patients are surprised by how straightforward it is.

What to expect on the day

You’ll be numb and comfortable throughout, and a simple extraction often takes just a few minutes per tooth. You’ll leave with clear, written aftercare instructions and everything you need for a smooth recovery — plus our number, in case any question comes up.

Healing and aftercare

Most people feel back to normal within a few days. Rest on the first day, stick to soft foods, keep the area clean as directed, and use a cold compress for any swelling. We’re always a phone call away if you need us.

Important

Skip straws, smoking, and vigorous rinsing for the first few days. The suction and disturbance can dislodge the healing clot and cause a painful “dry socket” — the one complication that’s easy to avoid.

Clear pricing, insurance & financing

We’ll walk you through the cost before anything begins — no surprises. We accept most major PPO plans and Medicaid, file the paperwork for you, and offer flexible, low-interest financing through CareCredit so you can spread the cost if you’d like.

Gentle, judgment-free care

Whether it’s one stubborn tooth or all four, you’ll get an honest recommendation, a comfortable visit, and a clear plan — never pressure. If dental work makes you nervous, you’re in exactly the right place.

Taking out a problem wisdom tooth early is almost always easier than waiting until it’s causing real trouble.
